About the role

We are seeking someone on a fixed term capacity starting either December 26 or January 2027. As a Dietitian, you will play a vital role in supporting patients' health, recovery and wellbeing through the delivery of evidence-based nutrition care. Join our Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU), where nutrition plays an important role in supporting recovery, wellbeing and successful community reintegration. 

As part of a collaborative team that includes Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Exercise Physiologists, Music Therapists, Psychiatrists and Nurses, you will play a pivotal role in delivering dietetic services that support consumers’ recovery and promote reintegration into the community.

You will play an integral role within SECU, providing comprehensive nutrition assessment, intervention and monitoring to support consumers’ physical health, mental wellbeing and recovery goals. This includes completing initial dietetic assessments, developing and reviewing individualised nutrition care plans, and providing ongoing dietetic management for consumers with a range of nutrition-related conditions and concerns. The Dietitian contributes specialist expertise to the multidisciplinary team by participating in clinical reviews, case discussions and care planning, supporting the management of nutrition-related illnesses, monitoring nutritional outcomes, and partnering with Diabetes Educators to ensure consumers with diabetes receive appropriate education and support. Also contributing to the ward’s group program and promotes healthy lifestyle interventions in collaboration with the broader rehabilitation team.

The Secure Extended Care Unit (SECU) is a 50 bed unit based at Dandenong Hospital that provides medium to long-term inpatient treatment and rehabilitation for people who have continuous and severe symptoms of mental illness. Monash Health SECU accepts people from the catchment areas of; Eastern Health, Peninsula Health, Monash Health and Alfred Health. Our collaborative multi-disciplinary team is made up of; Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Clinical and Neuro Psychologists, Exercise Physiologist, Dietician, Music Therapist, Psychiatrists and Mental Health Nurses. The multi-disciplinary team provide treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation programs optimising individual function, for return to community living.  NDIS plays an integral part in providing psychosocial support and care for our consumers and families during their stay supporting community transition.

You are a qualified and dedicated Dietician who brings both clinical experience and a deep commitment to recovery-focused mental health care.
