Our team of 24,000 people are full hearted, open minded and all in. Together, we provide more than 250 integrated services for every stage of life at over 50 locations and in the community across south-east Melbourne, Victoria, serving 1.2 million residents in the South Metro Local Health Service Network.
To see first-hand what our colleagues think about working here, take a look at the following short videos monashhealth.org/careers.
About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist Grade 2 to join our team part-time ongoing at Monash Health in a 0.8EFT position. You will be working within the geriatric evaluation and management (GEM) stream to provide meaningful intervention to older frail adults.
You’ll be part of a large, supportive subacute service, delivering high-quality occupational therapy in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. This is an exciting time to work in GEM with several model of care changes that look at making a real impact to the frail older population. This role is fast-paced, rewarding, and integral to delivering exceptional rehabilitation outcomes.
As an Occupational Therapist, you’ll empower patients to engage in meaningful activities and improve their quality of life. Your day will include:
- Conducting occupational assessments
- Collaboratively setting goals with patients and the multidisciplinary team
- Delivering occupation-based interventions that have a real impact
You’ll work closely with allied health, nursing, and medical staff in a supportive environment that encourages shared learning and joint treatment planning. You will have supervision and support to have hands on clinical learning with:
- Grade 2 peers
- Grade 3 occupational therapists
- Clinical educators
- Clinical grade 4 specialists
About you
You’re a compassionate and skilled clinician who thrives in a team environment and is committed to delivering exceptional care. You bring:
- A patient-centred approach to care
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in subacute clinical settings and experience with a neurological caseload desired
- A passion for enhancing occupational performance and patient experience
- A commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Interest in evidence-based practice, research, and service improvement
Education & licence requirements are are per the supportive documentation below.
Why Join Us?
There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping an older person get back to the things that matter to them — whether that’s returning home safely, rebuilding their confidence or simply being able to do more for themselves. In GEM, the small wins can make a big difference. As an Occupational Therapist, you’ll have the opportunity to see the impact of your work every day, while being part of a team that genuinely values what you bring.
You’ll also be joining us at an exciting time, as we rethink and evolve how we care for frail older people. Your ideas, experience and OT perspective will have a voice in that change.
And while you’re supporting your patients to achieve their goals, we’ll support you to achieve yours, with:
- A welcoming and collaborative multidisciplinary team
- Strong clinical support from senior OTs, educators and Grade 4 specialists
- Opportunities to grow your skills across specialties, departments and sites
- Career development and progression across a large health service
- Opportunities to contribute to research, quality improvement and service innovation
For a confidential discussion and to explore this opportunity further, please reach out to Emma Flanagan, Allied Health Manager - Occupational Therapy, on 0434 666 918 or Sarah Brown, Head of Profession - Occupational Therapy, on [email protected].
