About the role Mental Health Clinician Level 3

As a Senior Mental Health Clinician with the New England North West Acute Care Team (NENW ACT), you'll play a pivotal role in delivering responsive, high-quality mental health care to adults experiencing acute mental health concerns across the region. Working within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team alongside clinicians, peer workers and medical staff, you'll provide timely assessment, acute care and outreach through a progressive hybrid model combining face-to-face and telehealth services.

This is an opportunity to bring your advanced clinical expertise, sound judgement and leadership capability to complex presentations. You'll undertake comprehensive mental state examinations, risk assessments and clinical formulations, apply advanced clinical reasoning and deliver evidence-based interventions that are responsive to each person's needs. You'll also confidently navigate relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act, while championing best practice, clinical governance and professional standards.

Beyond your clinical practice, you'll have the opportunity to lead, influence and strengthen the capability of your team. Through clinical supervision, mentoring, case reviews and collaborative practice, you'll support less experienced clinicians while helping foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing team culture. You'll also contribute to the broader New England North West Health Services through inreach activities when required.

Based at Tamworth Community Health Service, you'll be part of the New England North West Acute Care Team (NENW ACT), providing responsive, high-quality intake, acute mental health care and outreach to adults across the region.

• Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics, Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental Health, Djirruwang Program) which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association / provisional or general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• For CNS2: Relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation.
• Eligibility to drive in NSW and willingness to travel for work purposes which may involve driving long distances.

You're an experienced Mental Health Clinician with advanced clinical competence and a passion for delivering high-quality acute mental health care.

• Advanced assessment skills, including comprehensive mental state examinations, risk assessments and complex clinical formulation.
• Strong clinical reasoning and the ability to confidently manage high-risk or complex situations while applying relevant legislation, ethical frameworks and clinical governance requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience providing clinical supervision, mentoring colleagues, leading case reviews and contributing to a positive team culture.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
• A commitment to timely, thorough and accurate clinical documentation.
• Emotional intelligence, resilience, reflective practice and professional integrity that enable you to deliver high standards of care in demanding environments.
