An exciting and rare opportunity is available for an experienced pharmacist to step into the role of Oncology Pharmacist in Charge at Slade Pharmacy Berwick Specialist Centre. This position has become available in preparation for the transition of pharmacy services to Slade Pharmacy and offers the successful candidate the chance to play a key role in transitioning and establishing pharmacy operations with the support of an experienced and friendly team.

As Pharmacist in Charge, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the onsite hospital pharmacy. You will oversee dispensary and medication supply services, ensure safe and compliant pharmacy practices, and work closely with hospital clinicians and staff to support patient care across the St John of God Day Oncology Unit.

This is a hands on leadership role that blends pharmacy practice with operational oversight. You will lead a small pharmacy team, coordinate workflow and priorities, manage stock and governance processes, and contribute to a positive and collaborative service culture. With strong support from experienced Slade and Icon Group leaders, this role is ideal for a pharmacist ready to step into site leadership or further develop their operational and people management capability within hospital pharmacy.

• Oversee the daily operation of the hospital pharmacy and ensure safe, timely, and accurate medication supply
• Provide hands on dispensing support and including oncology pharmacy services to patients
• Lead and coordinate pharmacy workflow, workload prioritisation, and stock management
• Review medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness and promote medication safety
• Liaise closely with hospital nurses, doctors, and allied health staff to support patient care and service delivery
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy legislation, safety, quality, and accreditation standards
• Maintain accurate PBS claiming and patient account processes
• Support, guide, and develop pharmacy team members, fostering a positive and professional team culture
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives as the service establishes and evolves

You are a proactive and patient focused pharmacist who enjoys taking ownership of operations and supporting others to succeed. You are confident managing day to day decisions, comfortable working in a hospital environment, and motivated by the opportunity to help build and shape a pharmacy service at a newly transitioned site.

You bring a practical, solutions focused approach, strong communication skills, and a commitment to delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate pharmacy services. Previous formal management experience is not essential. What matters most is your readiness to lead, learn, and contribute positively to both the pharmacy team and the broader hospital environment.

• General registration as a Pharmacist with AHPRA
• Previous experience working as a pharmacist in an Australian hospital or community pharmacy setting
• Previous experience working in Oncology based pharmacy practice will be highly regarded
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• Excellent communication and relationship building capability
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with hospital teams
• Commitment to medication safety, governance, and quality standards
• Valid driver's licence
• Hospital pharmacy experience is preferred but not essential.
