About the role

• Provide evidence-based psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for patients with osteoarthritis of the knee or hip, supporting pain management, health behaviour change, adjustment to long-term conditions, function and quality of life

• Facilitate and deliver individual and group-based psychological interventions and education resources, supporting behaviour change and self-management within the Osteoarthritis Chronic Care Program (OACCP), and integrating psychological approaches into multidisciplinary care

• Work as the sole Clinical Psychologist within the OACCP, providing leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of psychological components of care, with a high degree of autonomy and minimal direct supervision, while providing multidisciplinary team support and clinical supervision to junior staff

• Contribute to the evaluation, planning and development of psychology services within the OACCP, including the collection of appropriate activity data and outcome information and working with relevant internal and external stakeholders

• Provide psychology input into multidisciplinary planning, quality and research activities, as well as specialist advice to guide the treatment of relevant patients across other areas of the hospital, within the district and to other hospitals within NSW

About you

• APAC-approved Masters or higher in Clinical Psychology or Health Psychology, with full general registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA and endorsement in Clinical or Health Psychology preferred

• Advanced clinical knowledge, skills and significant clinical experience in the provision of psychology services within the defined areas of arthritis, osteoporosis and chronic care

• Strong organising and time-management skills, with the ability to facilitate effective clinical service delivery, work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and advocate for the needs of the psychology service

• Ability to implement clinical services incorporating continuous improvement, WH&S principles, data analysis, evidence-based practice and research

• Ability to share expert knowledge with colleagues and other health professionals to enhance service delivery and contribute to quality improvement and best practice

Where you'll be working

We have several specialised AIN mental health nursing positions across the following sites of Macquarie Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital and Northern Beaches Hospital, including specialist older persons and young person’s units.

Currently there are wonderful opportunities to join the mental health inpatient nursing team at the recently transitioned Northern Beaches Hospital and mental health inpatient units located at Royal North Shore, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai and Macquarie Hospitals and receive all entitlements offered by NSW Health.

What you'll be doing
The mental health AIN within MHDA Services supports person centre consumer health outcomes with a focus on recovery. The mental health AIN assists the nursing team in the provision of nursing care to mental health consumers within an acute care setting, through directed identified tasks and patient care activities under the direction of RN supporting the consumers recovery. The mental health AIN role supports the RN collecting of health care information, documenting, and communicating the information back to the RN within an identified Mental Health AIN Care Activities Map outlining the scope of practice.

The intention of the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence-based practice and collaboration, recognising each person’s unique journey of recovery in a way that fosters hope, purpose, and resilience.
