The RoleAre you a passionate Diversional Therapist looking to make a meaningful difference in mental health care?
Join our dedicated Acute Mental Health Inpatient team at Sutherland Hospital, where you'll play a key role in supporting recovery and wellbeing through the development, coordination and delivery of therapeutic recreation and activity programs for consumers experiencing acute mental health challenges. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will facilitate engaging group and individual activities that promote recovery, social connection, skill development and positive health outcomes.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a recovery-oriented model of care, supporting consumers throughout their inpatient journey while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, carers and families. We are seeking a passionate and experienced pharmacist to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with pharmacy, nursing and medical staff, Patient Safety Managers, and consumers to champion safe medication practices across the hospital. You will lead initiatives such as Medication Safety Walkarounds, oversee the Safe Use of Medicines Committee, and contribute to incident reviews and policy development. This is a unique opportunity to drive quality improvement, support NSQHS Standard 4 compliance, and develop your skills in clinical leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration while making a meaningful impact on patient care.

Where you'll be workingSESLHD is one of the largest local health districts in Sydney, covering a geographical area of 468 square kilometres from Sydney's central business district, the beaches from Bondi to Cronulla and down to the Royal National Park. We deliver health care to around 930,000 residents across the local government areas of Woollahra, Waverley, Randwick, Bayside, Georges River and the Sutherland Shire. We also provide a key role in helping residents of Lord Howe Island. The RoleThe Lead Pharmacist, Medication Safety is a leadership and clinical role.
The purpose of the role is to lead the provision of comprehensive pharmacy services across St George Hospital and affiliated services for the defined practice area of Medication Safety.
The role will work collaboratively at both the site/service level and across the district to maintain leadership and efficient performance of the provision of pharmacy services.
All Lead Pharmacist roles are integral members of the St George Hospital pharmacy leadership team to provide strategic, clinical and operational objectives for the pharmacy service. The position will have joint responsibility with other Team Leader and Lead Pharmacist positions, to maintain leadership, management and continuity of service provision of the pharmacy service across all operational hours.

- Proven ability to provide leadership, strategic direction and apply strategic processes in the management of departmental resources and services

About the Role
Community Mental Health Services provide a range of services designed to help support the recovery and help consumer stay well in the community. The team provide specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers and Peer Support Workers. Our main sites are at Canterbury, Croydon, Camperdown, Marrickville, and Redfern Community Health Services. The role will be based at Camperdown.
The Aboriginal Mental Health Unit (AMHU) is based at Camperdown and is a small team providing culturally appropriate community and health centre based mental health consultations and coordinating care of Aboriginal Consumers of Mental Health Services. Care coordination is the main component of this model of care and includes extended care coordination, targeted packages of care and short term care coordination.
- This is an identified Aboriginal Position. Applicants must be of Aboriginal descent. (An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977). Must hold a current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).

What you'll be doing

Provision of support to the nursing team in the delivery of nursing care in an acute care environment as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Assist Registered and Enrolled Nurses with residents care interventions as directed
Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required
Communicate effectively with residents and other health care team members in accordance with appropriate protocol

Are You the Right Fit?
You may be the ideal candidate if you are currently studying for your Bachelor of Nursing and have successfully completed at least two semesters of your degree. You should be able to provide proof of enrolment along with a satisfactory academic transcript and have completed one clinical placement as part of your studies.

Selection Criteria

- Current enrolment in, and successful completion of, at least two semesters (one year full-time equivalent study) of a Bachelor of Nursing or Graduate Entry Master of Nursing (GEM) program, as evidenced by an academic transcript, and completion of at least two clinical placements.
- Have you uploaded your CV, proof of current enrolment, a full academic transcript and 2 completed undergraduate clinical placement and the signed assessments from the clinical facilitators (ANSAT Forms).

Where you'll be working
We have several specialised AIN mental health nursing positions across the following sites of Macquarie Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital and Northern Beaches Hospital, including specialist older persons and young person’s units.
Currently there are wonderful opportunities to join the mental health inpatient nursing team at the recently transitioned Northern Beaches Hospital and mental health inpatient units located at Royal North Shore, Hornsby Ku-ring-gai and Macquarie Hospitals and receive all entitlements offered by NSW Health.

What you'll be doing
The mental health AIN within MHDA Services supports person centre consumer health outcomes with a focus on recovery. The mental health AIN assists the nursing team in the provision of nursing care to mental health consumers within an acute care setting, through directed identified tasks and patient care activities under the direction of RN supporting the consumers recovery. The mental health AIN role supports the RN collecting of health care information, documenting, and communicating the information back to the RN within an identified Mental Health AIN Care Activities Map outlining the scope of practice.
The intention of the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service is to provide recovery-oriented, trauma informed services that are guided by evidence-based practice and collaboration, recognising each person’s unique journey of recovery in a way that fosters hope, purpose, and resilience.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Nursing or degree deemed appropriate or completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care).
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills along with experience working within mental health.
- Contemporary mental health, nursing clinical knowledge and problem-solving skills along with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team to the scope of AIN.
