Transform lives, every single day
Do you want a career that means more? At Anglicare Sydney, we bring the strength, the support and the strategy to make it happen.
We're a well-respected not-for-profit that's been serving people in need for over 170 years. Each year, we achieve life-changing outcomes for thousands of people who rely on our person-centred support.
As our Group Facilitator (Financial Capability), you'll empower individuals and families experiencing financial hardship to build the knowledge, skills and confidence to make informed financial decisions.
This unique role combines 60% group facilitation and 40% individual Financial Capability casework, allowing you to make a difference through both engaging community workshops and personalised financial coaching.
You'll help people understand their finances, develop practical money management strategies and build greater financial wellbeing and resilience.
Be welcomed into a compassionate, respectful and purpose-driven community where we don't just talk about values – we live them.
Your opportunity
Working within our Financial Wellbeing & Community team, you'll deliver engaging and accessible Financial Capability workshops across community settings, including Anglicare offices, community hubs, pantries, churches and partner organisations.
You'll create welcoming, culturally responsive learning environments where participants feel comfortable discussing money, sharing experiences and developing practical financial skills.
Alongside your group facilitation responsibilities, you'll provide short-term, individual Financial Capability casework to people experiencing financial stress or vulnerability.
Using a strengths-based, trauma-informed and person-centred approach, you'll support clients to understand their financial circumstances, set achievable goals and develop practical strategies that strengthen their financial independence.
You'll also work collaboratively with Financial Counsellors, community pantries, community services and local partners to ensure participants and clients can access additional support when needed.
With integrity and compassion, you will:
- Group Facilitation: Plan, deliver and evaluate engaging Financial Capability workshops, adapting content and resources to suit diverse communities, learning needs and cultural backgrounds.
- Individual Casework: Provide client-led Financial Capability assessments, budgeting support, money management coaching and individual case planning to help people achieve their short-term financial goals.
- Support participants and clients to build financial knowledge, confidence and positive financial behaviours through practical tools, education and strengths-based coaching.
- Build relationships with community organisations, churches and local services to increase program engagement, strengthen referral pathways and connect people with appropriate support.
- Maintain accurate client and program records, monitor outcomes and contribute to program evaluation, reporting and continuous improvement.
What you'll bring
You're a confident and engaging facilitator who enjoys helping people learn practical skills they can apply in everyday life.
You understand that conversations about money can be sensitive and that financial hardship often involves complex personal and social circumstances.
You can connect effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
You're equally comfortable facilitating group discussions and working one-on-one with clients to develop realistic financial goals and practical strategies.
Your communication, cultural awareness and ability to adapt your approach will help you build trust and achieve meaningful outcomes across both aspects of the role.
What's required
- A degree in Social Work, Community Services or a related discipline, or a diploma/other relevant qualification with substantial experience.
- At least two years' experience working with diverse or disadvantaged communities, including people experiencing financial hardship.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating, adapting and evaluating group education programs or workshops.
- Experience providing individual client support, casework or coaching, including assessment, goal setting and monitoring outcomes.
- Financial Literacy Education certification, or willingness to obtain, together with confidence using client databases and CRM systems.
- You'll also need a current NSW Driver's Licence and a valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.
What's preferred
- · Ability to communicate in Arabic is highly regarded, particularly to support engagement with Arabic-speaking clients and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- · Experience delivering financial literacy, budgeting or financial wellbeing education.
- · Experience providing trauma-informed, strengths-based support to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship.
- · Experience working with community organisations, churches, community hubs or multicultural services.
You'll also share our organisational values of integrity, justice, compassion and excellence, embedding them in everything you do.
Why Anglicare?
We provide meaningful opportunities and choice, both for the individuals and communities we support and the dedicated people here who make it happen.
At Anglicare, you'll get the security, stability and opportunities that come with a strong, well-established organisation that's ready for the future. You'll belong to a community of kind, humble and respectful people of all faiths and backgrounds. You will also be supported to gain new knowledge, deepen your experience and expertise, and shape a rewarding career.
On top of that, here are just some of the tangible benefits you will enjoy in a career with us:
- Flexible work options to get the most out of work and life.
- Pay less tax on your income and increase your take-home pay. With salary packaging, up to $15,900 of your income is tax free.
